From Ballykinlar in Northern Ireland to Beetsterzwaag and Dedemsvaart in the Netherlands, from Cuevas del Becerro in Andalusia to Ekumfi Ekrawfo in Ghana, from Franschhoek in South Africa to Grossbardau in Eastern Germany, from Höfen in Frankonia to Vlassenbroek in Belgium, from Brezoi in Romania to Zvizzchi in Russia - the book takes you to the villages we have worked with in 2015 - 2016.
It shows our different approaches to rural culture and places through projects worldwide, and how we bring them together in Leipzig.
The book is structered in alphabetical order, giving space to meandering chapters like Tyranny of the Local, Conceptual Art, Landownership or Symbolic Overdetermination.
It is based on Myvillages’ two-year solo exhibition “International Village Show” at the Gallery of Contemporary Art Leipzig (2015–16) and is the first comprehensive monograph of the work of Myvillages.
