Plans for 2012
02 June 2012
It's the second time Höfen gets connected to cultural pan-european action. This time it is
the Eco Nomadic School, a series of visits and workshops in Germany, France, Rumania and England.
For the Höfen visit I'm cooperating with the Peasant Museum Frensdorf and the sociologist Heide Inhetveen from Sulezbuerg. The plan is to look at rural womens' economies in the through visits, conversations, and making things together.
The last time the museum trip revealed quite a few new stories I hadn't heard before.

Clay, clay, clay - finally canned.
01 July 2011
We've been talking clay, brainstorming clay, dicking clay. We have made tiles, pots and lots of small sculptures with clay. We had a clay spa evening and the list of what we could with it is long. The beauty of clay is its simplicity and for now the one I still have from our field is simply canned. That'll keep it for a while.

Höfer Goods going Northern Ireland
20 May 2011
I just sent two nice parcels with goodies from Höfen for a One Day International Village Shop in Ballykinler, near Belfast. They include the bestseller Butterspoons, some Doylee Bags, home made Schnaps and freshly potted clay.
public works has developed a new product with a group of women from the "Forever Young Pensioners" group, and there are quite a few Höfen - Ballykinler connections through the Rhyzom project, which also took place in both villages last year.

Local Spa
10 May 2011
The local clay is in demand. After an evening of talking and testing clay beauty and health treatments, many took clay home to treat sour knees, aching shoulders, the neck, etc. The idea is to try it for a week or two and see if it helps, even though many remember that clay treatmens were used successfully a few decades ago.

Fresh Clay
18 April 2011
I've dug some clay, and we are going to use it during an evening event on 9th May to make clay facials, wrappings and a foot bath. Sylvia Hellmuth, who is also from Höfen, knows a lot about seasonal wild herbs, and will mix some extratcs into the clay. Gabriele Götz, a construction biologist from a nerrby clay factory is going to join and explain some construction techniques using unfired clay.
This is still part of summing up the Höfer Goods 2010, and I think we will simply package some clay for medical home use. Clay is what it is - and it would be good to remember some of the very simple home recipes and pass them on. Especially when they work.
