I like being a farmer and I would like to stay one 2007-2009
Various places in seven european countries
January 2007

I like being a farmer and I would like to stay one is a 3-year project by Antje Schiffers and Thomas Sprenger, the Langenhagen Art Association (Ger) and myvillages.org.

Antje Schiffers and Thomas Sprenger do barter trades with farmers in Europe: an oil painting of their farm for a video in which they present their daily work. From these trades they get an archive of films about agriculture; the paintings stay with the farmers.

Schiffers started these barter trades in her hometown Heiligendorf in northern Germany in the year of 2000. In 2007 the project went international. An archive of films made by European farmers will be collected and used for sreenings in varying contexts: to participating farmers as well as in art institutions.

In 2009 an exhibition will take place at the Langenhagen Kunstverein and a book about the project will be published.
